Raised in the Ecuadorian Amazon and Andes among volcanoes, Lisa María Madera earned her Ph.D. at Emory University and her scholarship explores the interwoven relationships between healing, spirituality,
and nature in Andean and Amazonian myths. As an educator and entrepreneur. Lisa works to foster resilient, compassionate communities by providing extraordinary encounters with nature and her many creatures. During our journeys through the forest, Lisa will connect us to botanists, biologists, and cultural experts who will describe a rich array of knowledge informing the local landscape. In the evenings, Lisa will share Andean and Amazonian myths and stories leading to conversations on how we can strengthen a relationship of reciprocal healing with the living land.
